Placement description

Pastry Trainee:
All participants will participate in a 1-day orientation to the Omni Homestead Resort. Topics include safety, Organization Structure, Policies and Procedures, Benefits, Housing, Omni and The Homestead Resort’s Culture including Vision, Mission and Core beliefs.

-Operate and manage the pastry section of a kitchen, working together with the other chefs
-Prepare a variety of baked goods
-Decorate and present pastries and baked goods in a tasteful and beautiful way
-Monitor and order ingredients, supplies and equipment
- Meet with customers to discuss custom-made desserts or baked goods for special occasions
-Ensure the bakery section of the kitchen adheres to health and safety regulations
-Identify staffing needs, help to recruit new personnel and train them
-Develop new seasonal recipes and menus and keep up with the latest trends

The perfect candidate is

Rotate through bread, dessert and pastry making stations. Learn and practice the supervision of production schedule, associates, and menu administration. -Has a degree/certificate from the post-secondary institution and at least 1 year of hands-on experience or no degree/certificate but has at least 5 years of hands-on experience in the field.
