Additional information
Travelers from all over the world have long been enchanted by St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra. Known as Florida’s Historic Coast, the area was first discovered in 1513 by Spanish explorer Juan Ponce de Leon. And today – more than 500 years later – it’s still worth exploring. So, plan an adventure with family or friends, and come discover Florida’s Historic Coast for yourself. A short drive toward the coast from Jacksonville, Ponte Vedra Beach is synonymous with golf – though it offers many other allures. Ponte Vedra Beach’s 40-foot sand dunes are among the highest in Florida. From their peak, they race down to white sand beaches made from Appalachian quartz and ancient coquina. Seaside resorts and private escapes can be found in the twisted oaks and hammocks of the wild palmettos. Miles of fresh-water streams, creeks and lagoons course through the natural area of Ponte Vedra Beach.
